A round table discussion on the protection system for women in Palestine
Ramallah-A roundtable
meeting on developing the protection system for women in Palestine, held in
Ramallah, on Tuesday, recommended the necessity of increasing the number of
women’s protection counselors in the Ministry of Social Development, and
developing their capabilities in the field of providing counseling and
psychological support to battered women. And raising awareness of the national
referral system for battered women and the various protection mechanisms, in
addition to strengthening cooperation with the United Nations Relief and Works
Agency for Palestine Refugees "UNRWA" to strengthen the protection
system for women in the camps.
The meeting comes as
part of the "Shamel" project implemented by the YWCA of Palestine,
funded by UNWOMEN, and in partnership with community organizations in refugee
camps. The project aims to enhance the protection and reintegration of women
and girls who are survivors of violence in Palestine, and to protect the rights
of survivors of gender-based violence, by targeting refugee camps.
