The YWCA of Palestine Opens an International Youth Camp

Ramallah 29-6-2022 - The YWCA of Palestine has opened an international
youth camp at the Star Mountain Center north
of Ramallah, in partnership with several European institutions, as part of the
Erasmus Plus youth exchange project.
Along with Palestinians youth and representatives of
institutions from Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Turkey and Poland are participating
in the camp, while some project partners were not able to come from Jordan and
Lebanon.
During their visit to the YWCA's headquarter
in Ramallah, The General Secretary of YWCA Palestine Amal Tarazi welcomed
the participants in the camp, stressing the importance of the visit for
exchanging ideas and experiences between Palestinian youth and their
counterparts from around the world.
She
also gave a brief overview of the founding stages of the YWCA of Palestine,
reviewing its programs in the field of empowering women, along with social
innovation for youth and providing safe spaces for young women and men to
develop, learn and engage in society, and increasing the knowledge of
Palestinian youth about the importance of participating in decision-making
processes and raising the voice of young people in order to bring about
positive change.
The camp includes field tours of a number of youth projects in the
governorates of Tubas, northern Valleys, Tulkarem, Bethlehem, Ramallah and
Al-Bireh, and learning about the YWCA’s programs implemented in Palestine for
empowering youth. This, in addition to visiting the Dheisheh and Aida refugee
camps in Bethlehem, and taking a close look at the suffering of the Palestinian
people as a result of the occupation, the settlements and the apartheid wall.
It also includes meetings and panel discussions on youth employment
development and cooperation in Mediterranean countries, as well as highlighting
gender issues and empowering young women.
The camp will conclude on Saturday July 2, 2022.
