YWCA Palestine Supports an Initiative to Recycle Used Furniture in Jalazone Refugee Camp

The YWCA of Palestine celebrated the launch of a community initiative in the Jalazone refugee camp, north of Ramallah, yesterday February 8, which aims to support and protect women and youth through recycling old furniture and providing alternatives to Palestinian families with low income.

The initiative has been implemented through “Wujood” project,  which  aims to empower women and young women to be agents of change in their communities and promote their role in the society, in accordance with UNSCR 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security.  "Wujood" comes under the work of YWCA Palestine around youth, peace, and security.   A memorandum of understanding was signed between the YWCA and Jalazone women and youth  group to ensure the sustainability and continued development of the initiative.

This initiative is one of four initiatives that have been implemented in different localities, which aim to promote youth civic engagement in their communities, create safe spaces for women and children in specific and the people of the villages in general, and protect Palestinian lands.
