YWCA Palestine Concludes the 16 Days of Activism

The YWCA of Palestine concluded the 16 Days of Activism under the slogan “Safe Everywhere”, in partnership with the Palestinian NGO Forum for Combating Violence against Women (Al Muntada), and Salfit Municipality, and through funding from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.
The closing events, organized in Salfit, included a running race titled “a Run for Gender Equality” in which young people from different governorates participated. Orange balloons were released at the finish line after which the participants took part in the closing ceremony at Salfit town hall.
The ceremony included a musical perforamce by Nablus Band for Arabic Music –The Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, a theatrical sketch, and screening of the Best Film Contest chosen videos addressing gender-based violence in Palestine. Nine videos were published on the Facebook page of YWCA Palestine on 25 November to be voted on until 9 December 2021. Four videos won based on the number of likes and the evaluation of a special jury. At the end of the ceremony, the winners of both the running race and the Best Film Contest were awarded.
“Safe Everywhere” was chosen as this year’s theme of the 16 Days of Activism to highlight the right of women and girls to safety everywhere; at home, online, on the street, and the in workplace.
