YWCA Palestine Cooperates with Salfit Municipality in Organizing Activities during 16 Days of Activism

The YWCA of Palestine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Salfit Municipality to carry out joint activities during the 16 Days of Activism under the slogan “Safe Everywhere”.  The MoC was signed by the General Secretary of the association Amal Tarazi, and the Mayor of Salfit Abdul Karim Al-Zubaidi in a meeting attended by representatives of both parties.

The joint activities include lighting up the Municipality building with orange during the campaign, from 25 November –10 December 2021, as well as the campaign closing event in Salfit. The event will be a marathon followed by several art and cultural activities, and announcing the winners of the marathon and the Best Film Contest, which tackles issues related to GBV.  

Tarazi stressed the importance of the cooperation with the Municipality around issues related young women and men, most importantly their economic and social empowerment, and the promotion of their rights, as well as combating gender-based violence. She praised the support of the Municipality of women’s and youth activities in Salfit.  

She invited all community-based organizations in the Governorate of Salfit to participate in the closing event and activities to show solidarity with Palestinian women, emphasizing the need for providing a safe environment for women and young women at home, in the workplace, online, and the society as a whole.  

Al-Zubaidi, in turn, praised the work of the YWCA, and welcomed the collaboration between the municipality and the association.  He affirmed that the Municipality will provide the needed support and resources to ensure the success of the campaign activities, stressing the important role women play in the Palestinian society.
