Y Youth Clubs/Young Citizen
The "YYouth Clubs/Young Citizen (in Arabic)" is a project implemented in partnership with 17 community-based organizations in addition to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and with the support of the National Student Council in Norway. Every year, school students participate in Operation Day’s Work (ODW), the largest youth-led solidarity campaign in Norway. Instead of going to school, they work for one day to fund the campaign through which young people have been able to support projects in a number of developing countries around the world since 1963.
The project aims to empower youth in Palestine to be active citizens and leaders in their communities and take part in achieving just peace in Palestine and building a better future for all.
The project targets school students aged 13 –19 in the West Bank and Jerusalem and is being implemented in 70 schools including ten UNRWA schools. It also targets youth aged 20 –25 giving them opportunities for capacity-building.
The project activities include:
- Advocacy campaigns
- Interactive training workshops
- Summer camps
- Student councils
